GECO Africa Ltd is a consultancy and construction company that was first formed in 2007 in the names of MUNYARUGERERO Jean Kizito, a Geotechnical Engineer, and was then registered in the names of GECO Africa Ltd in 2009, as a result of a clarion call by the Government of Rwanda to Rwandans for them to rise above their challenges they faced and form consulting firms that performed above expectations and compete with the very best in Rwanda, and in Africa as a whole. Since then, GECO Africa Ltd became the first ever Rwandan equipped private geotechnical engineering company forming now a 100% Rwandan owned civil engineering consulting company.
It is a shareholding company with two main shareholders: MUNYARUGERERO Jean Kizito and MUKANEZA RWABUTOGO Aline Aimée, both Engineers.
MUNYARUGERERO Jean Kizito, who is the Managing Director, and founder of the company, is a qualified Engineer. After successfully running the Geotechnical Engineering laboratory at Kigali Institute of Science and Technology(KIST) for six years, he decided to split leading this new entity to a great independent success. He was directly involved, in collaboration with international companies, in geotechnical studies of many important projects in Rwanda such as Bugesera international airport, as well as the majority of major building projects in Rwanda such as Kigali City Tower, RAMA Building,CHIC and MIC Buildings,T200 Building,UBUMWE Grande Hotel Building, Eastern Province administrative building, Kigali and Gisenyi Marine bases and so many others. Since leaving KIST in 2009, he has brought GECO Africa Ltd to the top of the quality standards in Rwanda.
MUKANEZA R. Aline Aimée, the wife of the Managing Director and co-founder of the company, graduated in 2010 with a degree in civil engineering at KIST. In the succeeding years, she has gained wide experience and expertise in highway design and supervision of construction projects. Her main specialization includes among others: preparation of tender and contract documents, project management and contract supervision.
The Vision of GECO Africa Ltd is to become a premier Rwandan, African and international think tank on geotechnical engineering, infrastructure projects and service provider.
